Somewhere along the way, we were taught that caring about how we look is a luxury, something to feel a little guilty about, especially when there are bills to pay, children to raise, and a business to run. I want to gently push back on that idea, because I have lived the other side of it.
For years I put everyone else first: my kids, my clients, my work. And I learned the hard way that a woman who never refills her own cup eventually has nothing left to pour. The hour you spend in the salon chair is not vanity. It is maintenance, the same way rest is maintenance, the same way a good meal is maintenance.
When you sit down with us, something shifts. For a little while, no one needs anything from you. You are cared for. You close your eyes, and someone else carries the weight. You leave with your shoulders back and your head high, and that feeling does not stay at the salon. It follows you into the meeting, the school pickup, the hard conversation, the big decision.
